Despite No Big Winner, Numerous Players Collected Million-Dollar Prizes
The multi-state Powerball lottery jackpot continues its astonishing climb, now reaching an estimated $1.23 billion after no tickets matched all six numbers drawn on Wednesday night. This latest jackpot ranks as the third-largest in Powerball game history and the fourth-largest U.S. lottery prize ever offered.
While huge prizes generate significant public interest, the odds of any single ticket winning remain astronomically low at about 1 in 292 million.
Though no one hit the grand prize jackpot in the April 5th drawing, there were still multiple million-dollar winning tickets sold across the country. A total of eight tickets matched the five white ball numbers to win $1 million prizes, with two winners each coming from California and Massachusetts.
Other $1 million prizes were awarded to players in Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, South Carolina and Washington states. However, the lack of a jackpot winner means the top prize will keep growing ahead of the next drawing on April 8th.
Simple Steps to Powerball Playing and Winning
To play Powerball, players select five different white ball numbers ranging from 1 to 69, plus one red Powerball number from 1 to 26. Tickets cost $2 each, with the option to multiply non-jackpot prizes through the Power Play add-on for an additional $1 per play.
Drawings occur three times weekly on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. If the jackpot is still unwon after April 8th, the grand prize will continue increasing, potentially setting new lottery jackpot records in the weeks ahead.
