Marvel may have found its Moon Knight for Disney Plus series

Oscar Isaac may be donning the cowl for Marvel’s live-action Moon Knight, based on reports from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, which say he’s in talks to take on the role for the Disney Plus television series.

Marvel announced a Moon Knight series in 2019, alongside Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk shows, at its D23 Expo, but the company has offered few official details about those far-off series. We’re still waiting on WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Isaac, known for his roles as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and the title role in the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, would have a multifaceted role to play in Moon Knight. He would presumably portray boxer-turned-Marine-turned-CIA operative Marc Spector, Moon Knight’s alter-ego, as well as the character’s other identities, millionaire Steven Grant and cab driver Jake Lockley.

Created in 1975 by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Moon Knight is a former criminal turned avatar of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. He fights street-level crime and generally does not socialize well with other superheroes, due in part to having the voice of Khonshu and two alternate personalities within his psyche.

Isaac has dabbled in the Marvel universe before, as the supervillain mutant Apocalypse in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse and as the voice of Miguel O’Hara (aka Spider-Man 2099) in the post-credits sequence of 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
