Jimmy Kimmel Says World Leaders ‘Hate’ Trump After Awkward G7 Moments
Jimmy Kimmel spent part of his latest monologue criticizing President Donald Trump’s appearance at the G7 summit, arguing that several moments during the event suggested world leaders were growing tired of his behavior.
The late-night host pointed to Trump’s arrival at a meeting, where he was reportedly 45 minutes late. Kimmel also highlighted a moment when Trump joked with photographers who were briefly allowed into the room.
“Would you like to stay for the meeting? It’s OK with me,” Trump said.
According to Kimmel, the joke received awkward laughs from those present.
Kimmel Questions What Leaders Think of Trump
Reacting to the footage, Kimmel said he believes Trump’s counterparts on the world stage have become frustrated with him.
“They must hate him so much, right? I mean, can you imagine the conversations that go on behind his back?” Kimmel said.
The comedian continued his criticism by comparing interactions with Trump to an unpredictable situation.
“Trump’s behavior at the G7 is increasingly childish each time he goes,” Kimmel argued. “These other foreign leaders, I feel sorry for them. I really do. Dealing with him, it’s like opening a can of soda that got shaken up: you know it’s gonna spray. All you can really do is try to aim it away from your face.”
Trump Complains About Chair and Room Temperature
Kimmel also referenced another moment from the summit when Trump complained about the temperature in the room after taking his seat.
The president also noted that he had the “lowest chair in the room.” After trying unsuccessfully to adjust it, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stepped in and gave Trump his own chair.
The incident became another topic of discussion during Kimmel’s monologue.
Group Photo Draws Kimmel’s Attention
Later in the segment, Kimmel focused on the annual G7 group photograph.
“This tells you all you need to know about what these people think of him,” Kimmel said. “This is the group photo they took, and they do this every year. Now there he is right in the middle.”
Kimmel then described what happened after the photo was taken.
“They break it up and everybody goes their separate ways,” he said. “And who is finally left by himself?”
According to Kimmel, the image of Trump standing alone after other leaders had moved into smaller groups said a lot about the atmosphere surrounding the president at the summit.
‘The Saddest Photo I’ve Ever Seen’
After showing the image, Kimmel delivered what became one of the biggest punchlines of the segment.
“That’s right. That might be the saddest photo I’ve ever seen,” he said.
The comedian then tied the moment into his long-running joke involving actor Matt Damon.
“This is what happens to Matt Damon every time the director yells cut,” Kimmel quipped.
The remarks came as part of a broader monologue in which Kimmel reviewed several moments from Trump’s appearance at the G7 summit and shared his thoughts on how the president interacted with fellow world leaders.
