One of the greatest legal dramas of all time is coming back, but not as some fans might think.
The iconic roles of Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson in 1992’s A Few Good Men are returning to Broadway, and it’s being revived by Aaron Sorkin’s name sake, with new actors replacing the veteran stars.
Tom Blyth Takes Over Tom Cruise’s Role
Lincoln Center Theater has announced the cast for its upcoming Broadway show, which includes Tom Blyth.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes star Blyth will take on the character of Lt. j.g. Daniel A. Kaffee, which Tom Cruise played in the film.
The character is highly intelligent, charismatic and witty military lawyer who is able to settle cases before going to trial.
Bradley Whitford has been cast as Colonel Jessep.
Blyth round out their team with Bradley Whitford, who will portray Lt. Col. Nathan Jessep.
The part was first played by Jack Nicholson in the film and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor.
Already, Whitford has had much experience with Sorkin, as he was one of the actors featured in The West Wing.
Broadway Revival Set for 2026
The show will premiere at The Vivian Beaumont Theater, one of Broadway’s most important theatres, which is part of the Lincoln Center complex in New York City. The revival will be directed by multi-Tony Award-winning Michael Arden.
The official synopsis of the book claims that the movie is about a military lawyer, Daniel Kaffee, defending two young Marines charged with the murder.
The men’s innocence is challenged by his common sense, Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway. As they dig deeper, the two find evidence of a bigger cover-up in the military’s chain of command.
The Classic Legal Drama comes back!
A Few Good Men was originally a stage play by Aaron Sorkin that was written in 1989, and later adapted into a successful 1992 film directed by Rob Reiner.
The film went on to be nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
The film also starred Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Pollak, Kiefer Sutherland, and, like Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson, no one was omitted.
The Broadway revival will open on October 29, 2026, but will begin preview performances on October 8, 2026. The production is projected to be on for 13 weeks.
The revival is a chance for theatergoers and longtime fans of Sorkin’s courtroom drama to experience one of the most beloved legal dramas in history once again.
