The Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour schedule for August 2021 has been announced by Niantic. There’s a lot to look forward to with Magnemite, East Sea Shellos, and West Sea Shellos all making appearances.
The Spotlight Hour is a weekly event hosted by Niantic in Pokemon Go. Each week, a different Pokemon will be featured, with significantly increased spawn rates and a unique double bonus.
Trainers will have one hour to catch as many of that species as they can, providing the ideal opportunity to complete their Pokedex and earn enough Candy to develop and power up that Pokemon.
In addition to the Spotlight Hours, a Community Day event will be held on August 14-15. All of these events are intended to provide more opportunities for trainers to capture, evolve, and battle with members of the community.

What is the next Pokemon Spotlight Hour?
Next is Magnemite!
Magnemite will be the next Spotlight Hour, and it will be live on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, according to Niantic.
For a limited time, between 6 PM and 7 PM local time, the Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild. This means you’ll be able to participate and watch it no matter where you are in the world.
In addition, as part of the event benefits, players will be able to obtain Double Catch Stardust.
Will there be a Shiny Magnemite in Pokemon Go?
Yes, Electric/Steel-type Pokemon and their evolutions can be Shiny, albeit this is extremely rare. You should be able to find one during the Spotlight Hour if you use any Incense or Lures you have.
Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour Spawn Rate & Shiny Rate
The spawn rate of each Spotlight Hour Pokemon is boosted for 60 minutes during these events, meaning you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch each species.
As a result, the spawn rate of each Shiny variation is boosted too. Many trainers use Spotlight Hours to fill out their Shiny collection, so this is the perfect chance for you to do the same!
This will be especially useful now that Niantic has introduced new Pokedex classifications to display your Shiny, Lucky, Event, and more Pokemon variants.
How to prepare for Magnemite Spotlight Hour in Pokemon Go
Because the Spotlight Hours are only 60 minutes long, there are a few things you can do ahead of time to ensure you don’t waste any time:
- Make sure you have enough Poke Balls to catch all of the Pokemon in the Spotlight Hour.
- Check to see whether you have enough Berries to receive double Candy or to make catching simpler.
- Make place in your Pokemon Storage Box for all of the ‘mon you’ll catch.
- For the event, save up your Pokecoins and buy at least two Incense sticks.
Along with these techniques, Spotlight Hours are a great time to use any extra goods you have, such as Lucky Eggs or Star Pieces, to boost your XP during the event.
