The pinnacle of prestige in the premium card world, the Amex Centurion “Black Card” has long maintained an aura of exclusivity. While previously accessible only via elite, insider invitations, a digital pathway now allows qualified members to petition for consideration.

How to Request an Invite to the Amex Centurion Black Card

  • Visit the Centurion website
  • Click “Interested in Centurion Membership? Click Here” at the bottom
  • Enter your name and current Amex card details
  • Submit your request for an invitation, if eligible
  • Amex will mail an invitation if you meet their qualifications

Amex Centurion Card Qualifications, Fees, and Benefits

Experts estimate around 100,000 Centurion cardholders globally, with only 20,000 in the U.S. While requirements are not published, a strong pre-existing relationship with Amex involving ultra-high annual spending is expected, likely six figures or more. An excellent credit score is also necessary.

The fees are substantial: $10,000 initiation plus a $5,000 annual fee. Adding authorized users costs $2,500 per year. However, the benefits are commensurately luxurious:

Amex Centurion Black Card Benefits

  • Amex Centurion airport lounge access
  • Exclusive clubhouse access
  • Complimentary top-tier hotel & airline status
  • Equinox gym membership
  • Shopping credits and event invitations
  • Personal concierge service

Complementary Cards For Amex Black

For those who want premium rewards without the Centurion fees, Amex offers the Platinum ($695 annual fee), Gold ($250), and no-annual-fee Cash Magnet cards with compelling benefits.

How To Maximize Amex Black Rewards

Yes, the black card is expensive. It has fees that are sky-high and would make an ordinary person’s eyes water. But some of us are lucky enough to be in the few who have more money than they know what to do with, and so for us getting the best possible deal is not just our right but our duty.

Start by maxing out those fancy hotel relationships – your new toys when it comes to sleeping on the road. Think upgraded suites at every Marriott or Hilton; private check-ins miles from the commoners blocking up the lobby; fees waived like courtiers bowing before a king. And when we dip into our stash of Marriott points? The fifth night is free. Obviously.

Now that we’ve got platinum status with Delta Air Lines, we can expect similar treatment in the sky. Let everyone else claw for overhead bin space at their boarding group’s turn; let them wait in terminal purgatory while we sip champagne in the SkyClub. We’ll board whenever we like (ahem, “priority boarding”), and occasionally enjoy a bon voyage bottle of Champagne or two delivered courtesy of Delta Airlines themselves (yes, really).

Is the Amex Centurion Black Card For You?

The Centurion Card is very expensive with a $10,000 initiation fee and a $5,000 annual fee. It’s really meant for ultra-wealthy individuals who spend extravagantly.

If your annual spending and net worth put you in the top tiers of wealth, the premium travel benefits, elite statuses, personal concierge, and other VIP perks of the Black Card could be worthwhile.

However, if you aren’t incredibly affluent with virtually unlimited means, the fees are likely not justifiable. You’d be better off with Amex’s other premium cards like the Platinum or even the no-annual-fee Cash Magnet card.

The Black Card is an exclusive status symbol for the ultra-rich. If you have to think twice about the fees, it’s probably not the ideal card for your lifestyle and means. It’s best suited for those with excessive wealth seeking the ultimate luxury perks.
