The Pokemon GO Community Day in December 2021 is a big one, bringing the year to a close with plenty of bonuses and chances to extend your roster.
Here’s all you need to know about Pokemon GO’s December 2021 Community Day, including when it will take place, what benefits will be available, and who the (many) featured Pokemon will be.
When Is the December ‘Pokemon GO’ Community Day?
The upcoming Pokemon GO Community Day is more akin to a whole weekend.
The event will be divided into two sections, the first of which will begin on Saturday, December 18, at 11 a.m. local time. This will be available till 5 p.m.
After a brief intermission, the second half will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 19. This is again slated to expire at 5 p.m.
December Community Day Bonuses for ‘Pokemon GO’
As usual, throughout both Community Days, you will be able to take advantage of limited-time advantages that will make it easier to catch and trade Pokemon. These are the following:
- During the event, incense will be activated for three hours.
- Lure Modules that are engaged during the event will be active for three hours.
- The walking distance for hatching Eggs will be cut in half.
- Catching Pokemon will result in a double XP bonus.
- Catching Pokemon will give you twice as much Stardust.
In addition to this, there will be a few other end-of-year bonuses available within a somewhat different time frame. From 1 p.m. on December 18 to 11:59 p.m. on December 19, the following will be accessible.
- The cost of stardust for transactions will be cut by 25%.
- You will receive one additional unique trade per day.
Field Research Tasks
You will be able to complete Field Research assignments to gain Mega Energy for the following Pokemon from Friday, December 17 at 1 p.m. ET through December 20, at 1 p.m. ET:
- Charizard
- Beedrill
- Gengar
- Gyarados
- Altaria
Increased Pokemon Storage and Item Bag Capacity
In preparation for the foregoing, Niantic will increase your storage capacity to ensure that you have enough room for all of your new captures and awards.
Your Pokemon Storage Expansion cap will increase from 5,000 to 5,500 on December 16 at 4 p.m. ET. In the meantime, your Item Bag storage will increase from 4,000 to 4,500.

Normally, there are only a few featured Pokemon on a particular Community Day, but there are 25 for this 2021 send-off.
