Overwatch 2: Fix Getting Locked Out for Old Players

During the first week of Overwatch 2’s release, the game has been plagued by a number of problems, including server problems and cosmetic glitches. This time, veteran players are complaining that they can not choose from all available heroes. Learn how to resolve the issue where veteran players cannot access heroes in Overwatch 2.

Legacy gamers should not have to go through the First Time User Experience to play their favorite characters in Overwatch 2, but a newly discovered problem is making that impossible at press time. According to Blizzard’s explanation, players with legacy accounts are seeing a message saying they need to go through the Quick Play matches to unlock them again because the problem is treating them as new users.

There is currently no known workaround for this issue, though some players have reported success after restarting the game or logging out and back into Battle.net. Both of these approaches have failed to solve the problem for us, but Blizzard has promised a fix is on the way.

In the event that you encounter this issue, your best bet is to wait until Blizzard releases a patch to the game. You can still play Quick Play matches to gradually gain access to them, although it might be best to wait for the time being.
