Uber Cash or Uber credits (depending on your location) are applied to an Uber account using gift cards. To use a gift card, follow these steps:
Within the Uber app
- Check that you have the most recent version of the Uber app.
- Tap the menu icon and then choose Wallet.
- Tap Add Payment Method or Redeem Gift Card to proceed.
- Then select Gift Card.
- Please enter your PIN/gift code (with no spaces).
- Select Add.
In the Uber Eats app
- Check that you have the most recent version of the Uber Eats app.
- Select Wallet from the Account menu.
- Add a Payment Method.
- Choose Gift Card.
- Please enter your PIN/gift code (with no spaces).
- Select Add.
- A gift card cannot be transferred once it has been applied to an Uber account.
You cannot reload a purchased gift card, but you can add additional gift cards to your Uber account. Each Uber account can save up to $2,000 in total gift card value. You can add additional credits as you use them up.
What can I do with an Uber gift card?
Once redeemed, your Uber gift card is added to your Uber Cash or Uber credits balance and can be used at Uber or Uber Eats checkout.
When you check out on Uber or Uber Eats, your Uber Cash or Uber credits balance is likely to be selected as your preferred method of payment. If not, touch on your preferred payment option (for example, a credit card) before checking out to swap between payment methods. To ensure that your Uber Cash or Uber credits are always spent first, turn on the toggle. If you haven’t used up all of your Uber Cash or Uber credits, the leftover balance can be applied to your next ride or transaction.
What are the limitations on using or purchasing Uber gift cards?
There are certain restrictions on gift cards. Redeemed gift cards can only be used in countries that allow payment in the currency in which they were issued. The value of the gift card cannot be applied to Family Profiles, planned rides, or university campus card rides.
