Deep Rock Galactic: What is the Prospector Drone?
While boss foes are uncommon in Deep Rock Galactic, you will encounter them. Some of these can only be encountered in specific missions, while others serve as optional mini-bosses that you can fight and kill at the end of your quest for extra experience and loot.
The Prospector Drone is one of those bosses, and this article explains what it is and why you should consider fighting it.
Fight for corporate espionage
Any operation has a chance of encountering the Prospector Drone. Information’s a rival company’s research drone evaluating everything Deep Rock Galactic has you perform and returning it to its owners so they may try to get ahead of them with clients or research. You don’t have to shoot down the drone, but if you do, you’ll gain a lot of extra experience and loot at the end of the operation.
You must shoot the Prospector Drone in order to defeat it. If every dwarf participates in the battle, the boss will be defeated quickly.
When you attack it, though, it will try to defend itself by flying away. Smaller opponents, such as robots and Patrol Bots, will also become involved and attempt to defend the Prospector Drone. You can hack the Patrol Bots and have them fight for you for the rest of the mission if you defeat them.
After you’ve defeated the Prospector Drone, go to the location where it fell to collect the data core. You must deposit this as if you were using a Hacking Pod, guaranteeing that your experience received at the end of the mission is increased.
