The best time to consider applying for the Chase Sapphire Reserve may be right now, especially if you have been looking at the highest-ever welcome offer of 175,000 points. Chase is targeting select consumers, and there is an easy way to check whether you qualify.

Chase has reintroduced a preapproval tool, allowing prospective applicants to answer a few quick questions and see if they are eligible for a welcome offer. It works similarly to the American Express prequalification tool and displays the cards you prequalify for with no impact on your credit score.

Want 175,000 Ultimate Rewards points?

Chase is offering a 175,000-point bonus after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening, and the preapproval tool lets you check whether you are targeted.

You simply answer a few questions, Chase performs a soft inquiry, and then displays the cards you are eligible for.

From there, you can choose whether to proceed with a full application, which triggers a hard inquiry. Not everyone will qualify for every card, but the tool will show alternatives you may be eligible for.

The preapproval tool does not display your status under the Chase 5/24 rule, so you need to know your standing before applying. Standard eligibility rules for Sapphire cards still apply, and only select Chase cards appear in the tool.

After answering the questions, you can see if you qualify for the highest-ever offer of 175,000 points or the standard 125,000-point offer, which has the same spending requirement of $6,000 in the first three months from account opening.

Chase’s prequalification tool includes the following cards: Chase Freedom Flex, Chase Freedom Rise, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, Chase Slate Edge, Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card, and the United Explorer Card.

The elevated welcome offer is only for the Sapphire Reserve; other cards included in the tool show only the standard public offers.

The main reason to use the tool is to check if you qualify for the elevated offer on the Sapphire Reserve. If you are not interested in the Sapphire Reserve, the tool still lets you confirm eligibility for other Chase cards without a hard inquiry.

Before applying for a Chase card, consider using the preapproval tool so you can avoid unnecessary inquiries and see what you might qualify for. It may unlock the highest-ever 175,000-point offer on the Sapphire Reserve, worth tens of thousands of extra points.

Even if you are not pursuing the Sapphire Reserve, you can use the tool to confirm eligibility for other cards before applying.

Many consumers will find this useful, as the tool provides a helpful way to see whether you qualify for elevated or standard offers without impacting your credit score.

See if you are eligible for the 175,000-point bonus by using Chase’s prequalification tool.
