Essential Netflix Series for October 2025
As we move into October and the arrival of spooky season, Netflix has an interesting slate of series on the way and they’re not all scary. From coming-of-age comedies to the return of The Witcher and several excellent licensed series, there’s something for everyone.
September 2025 kicked off the fall season with standout shows such as House of Guinness and Black Rabbit. Looking ahead to October, the lineup includes a mix of fantasy, drama, thrillers, and licensed series. Here are ten of the best new series to watch on Netflix in October 2025.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story – October 3
Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, the Monster series follows infamous real-life “monsters.” Season 1 covered Jeffrey Dahmer. Season 2 told the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez.
The upcoming third season focuses on Ed Gein, also known as the Butcher of Plainfield. His disturbing life inspired some of Hollywood’s most famous on-screen villains.
Genie, Make a Wish – October 3
Netflix has a glittering history with Korean dramas. While Squid Game and All of Us Are Dead were darker, Genie, Make a Wish is whimsical and fantastical.
A quirky genie returns after a thousand years to grant wishes to a stoic woman without feeling. What follows is a fantastical and whimsical adventure and possibly a bit of love.
Boots – October 9
An irreverent, offbeat comedy drama inspired by Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine. Set in the 1990s US Marine Corps, when being gay in the military was illegal, the series follows Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) and Ray McAffey (Liam Oh) navigating a harsh new environment.
The Resurrected – October 9
A Taiwanese thriller that is violent, dark, and chilling. Two grieving mothers (Shu Qi and Sinje Lee) resurrect a scam ringleader to resurrect their daughters. The Resurrected blends brutal drama with the desperation of parents seeking vengeance.
Splinter Cell: Deathwatch – October 14
Based on Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell franchise, this animated espionage series brings Sam Fisher’s legacy to Netflix. Once a legend, Fisher is pulled back into action to help a new recruit unravel a global conspiracy.
The Diplomat: Season 3 – October 16
Netflix’s acclaimed political drama returns. In season 3, “the chessboard flips.” Kate (Keri Russell) faces the reality of getting what she wished for: the vice presidency. After the shocking events at the end of season 2, the stakes are higher than ever. Season 4 is already set to begin production in November.
The Monster of Florence – October 22
A chilling crime series based on true events. Between 1968 and 1985, a killer targeted couples in Florence, Italy. Sixteen victims, mostly couples, were murdered in secluded locations. The Monster of Florence brings one of Italy’s darkest cases to Netflix.
Parish (Season 1) – October 24 (US only)
Giancarlo Esposito stars in this AMC series, now streaming on Netflix. He plays Gracian, a family man who runs a luxury car service until tragedy strikes. The murder of his son pulls him back into a violent past, with echoes of John Wick and Driver.
The cast includes Zackary Momoh, Paula Malcomson, Skeet Ulrich, Bonnie Mbuli, Ivan Mbakop, Arica Himmel, and Bradley Whitford.
The Witcher: Season 4 – October 30
Netflix’s fantasy epic returns with season 4. The series adapts the final volumes of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels.
The biggest change is the casting: Henry Cavill exits, and Liam Hemsworth takes over as Geralt of Rivia. Season 4 also comes with a much-discussed Rats special.
Nurse Jackie (Seasons 1 – 7) – October 7 (US only)
After a five-year hiatus, Nurse Jackie returns to Netflix. Edie Falco stars as a talented nurse who struggles with addiction. The acclaimed Showtime series once again joins Netflix’s library for US subscribers.
October 2025 offers one of Netflix’s most diverse lineups in months. From fantasy and political intrigue to chilling true-crime dramas and classic licensed series, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
