With each jackpot rollover, the amount of money up for grabs increases by several million dollars, and the price of a ticket is only two or three dollars.
One Powerball ticket costs $2, two Powerball tickets cost $3, three Powerball tickets cost $3 with Double Play, and four Powerball L tickets cost $4 with Power Play and Double Play.
Get your ticket from a retailer. There are five different sections, labelled A through E, on each ticket, so you can buy each section five times for the price of once.
Powerball is not available to residents of Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, or Utah. Residents of the remaining 45 states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, are encouraged to take part.
