Top Part-Time Jobs for Students to Get Some Bucks

Part time jobs

A part-time job is a wonderful way for students to have the extra money they want in their pockets. It is no secret that college life is very expensive and extra money is needed on top of what some students get given by their parents. They can use the money earned from part-time jobs to pay bills and enjoy themselves on a night out with classmates or co-workers. Worrying about money is common, however, a part-time job helps ease financial worries, allowing a student to focus more on getting good grades. Below is a look at some of the best part-time jobs for students.

  1. Looking after pets

This job is first on the list because it is one of the first jobs many students will get. The majority of homes no matter where one is studying these days will have a pet and if one is an animal lover, pet sitting is a great way to earn some extra money while studying. There are plenty of websites pet owners and sitters register on. All one has to do is set up an account on these websites, and they can earn as much as 10-25 dollars an hour just to look after someone else’s pet.

  1. Babysitting or nanny

Being a babysitter or a nanny is also a part-time job many foreign students choose to do because it is well paid, fun, and doesn’t disrupt their studies. To be a success in this job, one has to be good with kids, know how to do chores plus it is a great job to gain experience for any student pursuing a career in social care. One can also add their experience as a nanny or babysitter on their resume. This job is easy to apply for, however, one might have to go through a background check because no parent wants a drug user or someone with a criminal record around their kids.

  1. Pubs or bars

Bars or pubs get busy over the summer months and festive season. They are always looking to add new people to help ease the pressure, especially on the weekends making it the ideal part-time job for many students. Working in such an environment can be fun and gives students a chance to socialize with different people from different backgrounds. A great place to apply for such a job is in the city center or the campus bar.

  1. Restaurants

Another part-time job that is ideal for many students is restaurant work. Students love these jobs because they offer them flexible working hours and can earn extra money not just from their pay but from tips as well. In the UK and USA, for example, a student can take home as much as £50 or $69 in tips home on a busy day.

  1. Security jobs

Plenty of venues like bars, clubs, halls, festivals, and sporting events are always in need of security to ensure there’s order around their premises. A student can apply for security jobs if they enjoy assisting and directing people, however, one would need to apply for a license. This can be obtained by taking a series of tests and once one is certified, they can begin applying for jobs.

Plenty of universities in America do offer students crowd management training, which can help them land a security position. Office buildings also look for nighttime security, but a student needs to be careful with these types of jobs because too many night shifts can mess up one’s sleeping pattern. This can also affect a student’s academic performance, which is the last thing they need.

  1. Teaching, mentoring, or tutoring

Any student that is excelling in their academic studies can use their skills to tutor others who are struggling. Technology has made it easy for students to tutor others online using apps like Zoom and earn around 20 dollars an hour. They can not only teach students who are located in the country they are studying, but also other students from across the globe. There are so many freelance websites that allow students to earn some money off tutoring, teaching, or mentoring.

One more option is professional essay writing services like AdvancedWriters.com. If you are good at writing and have great research skills, it could be interesting for you to become a part of a professional team of writers who help students handle their writing assignments.

  1. Retailers

Working as a store assistant gives a student a sense of responsibility and awesome pay. In the United States of America, students working part-time earn as much as 20 dollars an hour. It is the perfect job for anyone who is studying because they will be able to earn a decent wage to pay their bills. Even working 10 hours a week is enough for a student to pay their bills, buy food and enjoy themselves after they’ve sat for their final exams.

  1. Freelance jobs

Sites like Upwork are a great place for a student to find writing jobs, all one has to do is create an account. Students who are aspiring journalists or English students will feel right at home on a site like Upwork, PeoplePerHour, and Fiver because they can work on their schedule, earning between 12-15 dollars an hour.

  1. Delivery driver

In the USA, students are making 200 dollars a week doing parcel and food deliveries. Places like Amazon, UberEats, Deliveroo, and more offer students flexible working hours to help them earn money while they study. While their zero-hours contract model is controversial and has garnered some negative publicity, students seem to enjoy being under their flexible umbrella, which doesn’t tie them down to set hours, and they can work as little or as much as they wish.

Before applying for a part-time job, a student needs to know if they are eligible to work, especially if they are an international student. Countries like the UK and USA have restrictions on the number of hours international students can work. Depending on the length of their course and visa type, some students are not allowed to work at all while some can work up to 20 hours a week and full time in the summer or when on holiday. If a student is allowed or able to work, they can apply for any of the jobs mentioned above to earn some extra money.

Singapore has suspended a crypto-exchange, Over a disagreement with K-pop group BTS

Singapore’s banking watchdog has halted a popular digital currency exchange over a crypto pension programme linked to South Korean boy band BTS.

Singapore’s decision to stop Bitget’s local activities comes as the city-state strives to become a worldwide cryptocurrency hub.

BTS’s agency Hybe threatened Bitget with legal action in October for the promotion of Army Coin, named after the group’s ardent fans BTS ARMY. Who made the coin is unknown.

“so they do not have to worry about surviving but instead let them do what they desire to do” the platform advertised Army Coin. Hybe stated the coin is unrelated to BTS.

The episode shows the difficulties regulators face in controlling the crypto business as regular investors accept digital currency.

Barcelona star Andrés Iniesta was criticised last week for promoting the world’s largest crypto exchange on Instagram.

Singapore, a financial and free-trading port, has been more open to technology than regional rivals Hong Kong and Tokyo.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore has awarded Binance, Ripple, and Coinbase licences to serve retail and institutional clients.

Bitget had been exempted until July, according to a source familiar with the case. Bitget and the MAS refused to elaborate on the basis for Bitget’s exclusion.

Bitget’s services were still available in Singapore until late November, when it promoted Army Coin and claimed MAS clearance on its website.

After being notified by the Financial Times, the company removed the MAS logo from its site and prevented Singaporeans from using its app or website. Bitget still claims US, Canadian, and Australian licences.

Army Coin has since been listed on CoinTiger, another Singapore-based cryptocurrency market. The coin “exists for the good of BTS” and will “truly support them financially”, according to CoinTiger.

Munger wishes cryptocurrencies had never been developed

Charlie Munger, a billionaire investor, is still not a big supporter of Bitcoin.

‘I wish they’d never been invented,’ Munger said at the Sohn conference in Sydney on Friday, according to the Australian Financial Review.

Asked if he had any admiration for China, Munger replied, “I think they made the right decision by simply banning them.”

The cryptocurrency market temporarily surpassed a market value of $3 trillion in November, and leading coins like bitcoin hit new highs this year, spurring a boom in interest in digital assets.

For the 97-year-old Berkshire Hathaway vice chairman, this position is nothing new. According to Munger, the Covid-19 pandemic made him loathe bitcoin even more in May at Berkshire’s annual shareholder meeting.

In response to the bitcoin success, he declared, “Of course I hate it.” Not only does it make kidnappers and extortionists so much easier to get their hands on your extra billions of billions of dollars, but I don’t enjoy just handing over your extra money to someone who just manufactured a new financial product out of thin air.

According to Munger, “I think I should say modestly that the whole damn development is disgusting and contrary to the interests of civilization.”

Munger, of course, would be opposed by bitcoin advocates. Some people feel that bitcoin can be utilised as a form of inflation protection because of its role as a store of value. According to these proponents, bitcoin is a safe and secure peer-to-peer currency.

Munger, on the other hand, has often slammed bitcoin for its volatility.

“It’s really kind of an artificial substitute for gold. And since I never buy any gold, I never buy any bitcoin,” Munger said at the annual shareholders meeting for the Daily Journal in February. “Bitcoin reminds me of what Oscar Wilde said about fox hunting. He said it was the pursuit of the uneatable by the unspeakable.”

According to Coin Metrics, Bitcoin is currently trading at $56,085, with a market value of more than $1 trillion.
