The Cause of Death of Kiely Rodni Has Been Determined
On the night of August 16th, the 16-year-old was on her way home from a high school graduation party near Truckee, California, when she vanished. Police said at a news conference on August 21 that a car had been discovered underwater in the Prosser Creek Reservoir, and the body inside had been conclusively identified as the missing teen
The coroner’s office in Nevada County, California, has now announced the young girl’s official cause of death.
The coroner’s office confirmed that she “drowned in lake while in her vehicle.” in the official documents . Her death was found to be a tragic accident.
According to police, Kiely was last seen or heard from around 12:30 a.m. on the day she disappeared. She had texted her mother, Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, to tell her she was on her way home. When she was late, the police were notified and a search was launched.

The submerged automobile was discovered in Prosser Creek Reservoir near Truckee, California, by Adventures With Purpose, a Search & Recovery Dive Team committed to assisting families in locating missing loved ones.
Fortunately for Kiely, the vehicle was not too far from the campground where the party was.
When Kiely’s death was found, Adventures With a Purpose issued a statement reading, “Please keep the Rodni family in your thoughts and prayers as we are. Hug your loved ones a little tighter and take the time as you never know when it’s your last opportunity to do so.”
According to the Associated Press, Kiely’s family released a statement honoring her life. They said things like, “While we accept this sadness cast under death’s shadow, the rising sun shines light upon us, reminding us not to mourn our loss but to celebrate Kiely’s spirit and the gift that we all received in knowing her.”
