Splatoon 3: How to Beat DJ Octavio in Hero Mode
DJ Octavio, commander of the Octarians and last boss of the Hero Modes in the first two Splatoon games. He stalked Inkling society from the shadows, using cutting-edge technology and hot beats to intimidate his victims. However, in Splatoon 3, we will be facing off against Octavio almost immediately.
Splatoon 3: How to Beat DJ Octavio in Hero Mode
Octavio will meet you at the base of The Crater piloting the Octobot King L3.Gs, a stripped-down version of his iconic mech designed for use in the desert environment. His strategy is similar to that of past Splatoon games, albeit with a few new twists.
In the opening round, Octavio will use his trademark flying punch move. Use your Hero Shot to deflect his punches back into his face. After he is done that a couple of times, he will throw in some drill assaults by pointing his mech’s fingers outward and spinning them. These can not be shot out of the sky, so just sidestep them. Afterwards, you can cover them in ink and send them hurtling at Octavio from a distance. Octavio will be released from his mech after a few reflects, leaving him vulnerable to being splatted.
In the next stage, Octavio will use his mech to launch a massive Ink Vac. Any ink you fire into this vacuum will be consumed, rendering your attempts to deflect his blows futile. A small fry can be fired at Octavio to block the vacuum’s intake and stop the suction. Keep bouncing his blows off of you and sending him into another knockout while the Ink Vac is plugged.
After this, Octavio will start throwing in slap assaults, signalling them by raising the open palm of his mech. You can not shoot these out of the sky, and you will have to jump over the radial shockwave they create when they hit the ground. It is similar to the drill assault, but with a slight twist at the end. After that, merely refill the Ink Vac with Smallfry and continue deflecting Octavio’s shots until he is unconscious, at which point you can give him a last splat.
Octavio has been defeated, however he was not the primary antagonist. As part of a broader, more sinister scheme, he plays only a minor role at best…
