“Smite – Crossover’ With ‘Heavy Metal Band Slipknot”

Heavy metal music is no stranger to the type of lore-driven storytelling that pervades modern mainstream culture. Even then, no amount of fascinating makeup or liner notes about the depths of hell can make the collaboration of Slipknot and mythology-based MOBA Smite a common event. While the game has recently recruited everyone from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the Stranger Things cast, adding the masked rockers that were popular with edgelords everywhere decades ago takes things to a whole new level.

Each member of Slipknot will step into the shoes of an existing god.

As with their previous crossovers, each Slipknot member will take on the role of an actual god in the game, giving their move set a somewhat devilish feel. Individual purchases can be made to obtain Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Craig Jones, Michael Pfaff, clown, Jay Weinberg, Mick Thomson, Jim Root, and Alessandro Venturella from the in-game store. Purchasing three band members unlocks a Slipknot Music Theme, which adds bits from the band’s most popular hits to your battleground trips.

Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate get a head start on the pack with a free Slipknot Starter Pass. This includes the three gods that Slipknot members have in-game, as well as voice packs for those characters, a 30-day account booster, and a Deal of the Day token.

Other details

In other Smite news, console versions now have access to the Classic Conquest map, a previously PC-only experience that is part of the Smite Night feature. Every Saturday, the game will introduce new modes to conquer, with free rewards for those that participate. A new Blast from the Past Battle Pass offers console gamers a selection of skins from the game’s history for a one-time charge and the time it takes to complete some battles. They won’t be as exciting as Clown, but newer players will appreciate the chance to obtain previously unreachable cosmetic bling.
