Police in Missouri shot several times at a pregnant lady who was fleeing an alleged carjacking
As she tried to run and was detained for an alleged armed carjacking, the witness said she was shot five times by Missouri police, despite informing them she was unarmed and pregnant.
“They shot her! Oh my God, they shot her!” a lady who taped after the pregnant woman was shot on Friday night is heard saying this over and over again in the recordings.
“What the f***!” the person expressed in disbelief as she filmed the woman shot on the ground. “Oh my God, they shot her and still handcuffed her!”
According to KCTV, police have verified that about 8 p.m., cops responding to claims of an armed carjacking shot 26-year-old Leonna Hale.
After being pulled over by police in Kansas City, the driver fled, and Hale was shot as she tried to run as well. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
The woman made it clear that she had nothing to hide.
The witness, however, wrote on Facebook that Hale had “put her hands up and was talking to them to show she didn’t have a gun in her hand.” before turning to run.
Said witness Shédanja to the Kansas City Star: “Hale had refused to get down on the ground because she had claimed to be pregnant. That is all.”
“She was going to cooperate, got scared, ran over there and got shot? It’s not right!”
The presence of a firearm was later verified by law enforcement.
Shédanja asserted, though, that “she didn’t pull a gun on them,”She didn’t even have a stick in her hand.
“One, two, three, four, five. I remember because it didn’t stop. They fired five times,” she told a news source. “I remember seeing it fall to the ground and I froze,” , adding that the image had scarred her three children, aged 1, 10 and 13.
According to Joseph Mabin, the acting police chief of the Kansas City Police Department, “never want to be in these types of situations.”
