The Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour schedule for August 2021 has been announced by Niantic. There’s a lot to look forward to with Shellos, Skwovet, and Wooloo all making cameos.
The Spotlight Hour is a weekly event hosted by Niantic in Pokemon Go. Each week, a different Pokemon will be featured, with significantly increased spawn rates and a unique double bonus.
Trainers will have one hour to catch as many of that species as they can, providing the ideal opportunity to complete their Pokedex and earn enough Candy to develop and power up that Pokemon.
In addition to the Spotlight Hours, a Community Day event will be held on August 14-15. All of these events are intended to provide more opportunities for trainers to capture, evolve, and battle with members of the community.
Here’s what you need to know about the Spotlight Hour schedule for August.
Next Pokemon Spotlight Hour
Upcoming, East Sea Shellos!

How to prepare for East Sea Shellos Spotlight Hour in Pokemon Go
Because the Spotlight Hours are only 60 minutes long, there are a few things you can do ahead of time to ensure you don’t waste any time:
- Make sure you have enough Poke Balls to catch all of the Pokemon in the Spotlight Hour.
- Check to see whether you have enough Berries to receive double Candy or to make catching simpler.
- Make place in your Pokemon Storage Box for all of the ‘mon you’ll catch.
- For the event, save up your Pokecoins and buy at least two Incense sticks.
Along with these techniques, Spotlight Hours are a great time to use any extra goods you have, such as Lucky Eggs or Star Pieces, to boost your XP during the event.
Spawn Rate & Shiny Rate in the Spotlight Hour
During these events, the spawn rate of each Spotlight Hour Pokemon is increased for 60 minutes, ensuring that you’ll have lots of chances to catch each species.
As a result, each Shiny variation’s spawn rate has been increased. Many trainers use Spotlight Hours to complete their Shiny collection, and here is your chance to do the same!
This will come in handy now that Niantic has added additional Pokedex classifications to display your Shiny, Lucky, Event, and other Pokemon varieties.
Every week will offer a new Pokemon and event bonus, so stay tuned for more information later this month!
