Mega Steelix is a Mega Raid boss of the Steel and Ground types. The best raid counters will be powerful Fire Fighting, Water, and Ground kinds, with a wide variety of counters available to help you combat it. Depending on your levels and counters, we propose 4-5 high-level trainers, and more if you don’t have optimal teams. This guide will teach you how to defeat this tenacious Mega, as well as its best stats, moves, and CP range.
Mega Steelix Counters
Shadow Pokémon will not be mentioned as raid counters in this article because they are incredibly expensive to power up and require certain occurrences to eliminate Frustration with a Charge TM. However, if you have the shadow form of a listed raid counter Pokémon powered up and TMed, employ it.
Let’s take a look at the best raid countermeasures for Mega Steelix:

How to Get Mega Steelix
Steelix in its mega evolved form cannot be obtained during the raid. The mega raid boss can always be caught in its base form, hence the CP ranges are for a standard Steelix.
Steelix is catchable with the following CP values:
2010 – 2097 CP boosted by Sunny or Snow weather boost 2512 – 2622 CP boosted by Sunny or Snow weather boost
To obtain Mega Steelix, you will require 200 Mega Energy for the initial evolution, followed by 40 Mega Energy to evolve the same Steelix again later. Mega Energy may be gained during Mega Steelix Raids, and once Mega Steelix has developed, you can earn 5 Mega Energy per candy by walking it as your buddy. You can walk any Onix or Steelix to get Mega Energy, as long as you’ve previously evolved one to add it to your Mega Pokédex.
Steelix Shiny
Like all Mega Raid Bosses, you can catch the shiny version of Steelix from a raid.

Mega Steelix Moveset Analysis
Fast Moves | Charge Moves |
---|---|
Iron Tail – Steel Thunder Fang – Electric Dragon Tail – Dragon | Heavy Slam – Steel Earthquake – Ground Crunch – Dark |
Iron Tail and Heavy Slam are your greatest options for DPS because they also acquire STAB. Mega Steelix’s moveset is unusual, with no Ground type fast move and a random Electric fast move. Keep Mega Steelix as a Steel-type attacker to get the most out of it.
