Pokémon GO – Magmar Spotlight Hour Guide
The first-generation Fire-type Magmar emerges from the smog for December’s second Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour. This popular Pokémon will fill the world of Pokémon GO for sixty minutes this month, after Electabuzz’s turn as a Spotlight Hour star.
We’ll tell you when Magmar’s Spotlight Hour takes place, as well as what perks are associated with the event and the chances of capturing a coveted Shiny form, in this guide. Unless you reside in a warmer climate, finding fire-type Pokémon isn’t always easy, so make the most of this opportunity by hitting the streets.
When is Magmar Spotlight Hour in Pokémon Go?
On December 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, the Magmar Spotlight Hour will take place. That means you’ll be surrounded by Magmar for an hour, no matter where you are in the world. You’ll also get a 2x XP increase for evolving Pokémon during this event, so set aside anything you’re planning to evolve to take advantage of the extra XP.
It’s as excellent a moment as any to add the Pokemon’s fully evolved form Magmortar to your squad, thanks to the XP boost and the abundance of accessible Magmar. This powerful Fire-type can easily annihilate Grass or Ice-type opponents, thus it’s worth including in your squad for any difficult Gym Battles or as a counter to any Legendary Pokémon of those categories.
Is it possible for Magmar to be Shiny?
This month’s Spotlight Hour Pokémon, including Magmar, are all available in Shiny form. Of course, encountering a Shiny Magmar isn’t certain, but you can enhance your chances by using a Lure Module or Incense, which increases the amount of the Fire-type in the game environment.
