From Dec. 12 at 6 a.m. until Dec. 13 at 10 p.m. in your local time, the Community Day benefits from the 2019 and 2020 Community Days will return to Pokémon Go.
All of the featured Pokémon will have increased spawn rates throughout the event, with specific Pokémon having higher spawn rates on Saturday and Sunday. Some Pokémon will appear in raids and hatch from eggs more often, rather than spawning throughout the entire weekend.
What Pokémon have increased spawn rates?
The following Pokémon will be spawning more frequently:
- Charmander
- Weedle
- Abra
- Gastly
- Rhyhorn
- Electabuzz
- Magmar
- Magikarp
- Porygon
- Seedot
- Piplup
Weedle, Abra, Gastly, Rhyhorn, Seedot, and Piplup will have an even higher spawn rate from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time on Dec. 12. Charmander, Electabuzz, Magmar, Magikarp, and Porygon will have a higher spawn rate from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time on Dec. 13.

- Ralts
- Slakoth
- Trapinch
- Bagon

How do I get a Shiny Pokémon?
The Shiny rate for the featured Pokémon is increased, but due to the wide variety of spawns, it may be hard to find a specific Shiny you may have missed out on before. Make sure to at least tap every Community Day Pokémon you see to check if its Shiny. If you keep tapping them, you’ll find one eventually.
What special moves do the Pokémon learn?
If you evolve any of the following Pokémon during the event period, they will learn the following special moves:
If you don’t already have a Swampert, Blaziken, Sceptile, Feraligatr, Salamence, Torterra, Infernape, or Empoleon with these moves, you should consider trying to grab one. The Community Day moves for these Pokémon are extremely strong!
How do I make the most of this Community Weekend?
From 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time on both days, there will be doubled Stardust from catching Pokémon, and egg hatching distance will be halved. That being said, you should make sure to place eggs in Incubators during the event and catch as many Pokémon as you can. Consider using a Star Piece to increase your Stardust gains even more.
Make sure you complete the Timed Research for an Elite Charged TM, which normally can only be purchased with coins. These TMs allow you to teach your Pokémon legacy moves that aren’t able to be learned anymore, so they’re definitely worth grabbing.
Many of the Community Day moves for the featured Pokémon are good for PvP, but the must-have move among all of these is Salamence with Outrage. If you don’t want to participate too much, at least grab one of those. They’re pretty dang strong.
If you’re deciding which Shiny to evolve at the end of the day, try using one of the new search strings. Sort your ‘mons by “recent” using the lower right icon, and then type “4*” in the search box at the top. This will let you know if you have any 100% IV Pokémon. Most people won’t be so lucky, so next you’ll want to type “3*” in the search box, which will show you any recent ‘mons that are 80% or above. Appraise these to see which one is best, and then evolve your new buddy!
