“Overwatch 2′ – Trailer Reveals New Hero With Release Date and Free-to-Play Model”
Blizzard Entertainment delayed Overwatch 2, but that was before it separated the PVP and PVE modes. The change appears to have allowed the team to release some portions of Overwatch 2 faster than expected, as Blizzard not only revealed an October 2 release date for the PVP mode, but also indicated that it will be free-to-play. This also coincided with the introduction of a new hero.
Blizzard revealed this in advance of the free-to-play unveiling with a new teaser featuring standard Overwatch 2 action. This film also revealed the long-rumored Junkerqueen hero, who has been mentioned in other portions of the game, including the Junkertown map. She’ll also have her own origin trailer and be a tank. Blizzard will unveil more details on June 16 at 10 a.m. PT
This information was leaked prior by The Snitch, a new (and highly accurate) leaker on Twitter. On June 11, they made a cryptic hint to Overwatch 2 becoming free-to-play.
