Agent 18, dubbed “Sprinter,” was well-known before Valorant Episode 4 was out in January 2022. Thanks to her character video confirming her identity as Neon, we now know her capabilities, history, and more.
Who is Neon?
Neon is a “Sprinter,” the mysterious Duelist Agent who has been drifting about Valorant’s game files for months. The ferocious femme fatale in cobalt blue and highlighter yellow annihilates everyone who stands in her squad’s way.
What are her abilities?
⦁ Fast Lane: Shoot two energy lines forward onto the ground for a short distance or until they collide with anything. The lines form static electricity fences that obstruct eyesight and injure adversaries who pass through them.
⦁ Relay Bolt: Toss an energy bolt that bounces once in one moment. The bolt electrifies the earth below with a concussive explosion as it hits each surface.
⦁ High Gear: For greater speed, quickly channel Neon’s power. When the battery is fully charged, press ALT FIRE to start an electric slide. Every two kills, the slide charge is reset.
⦁ Overdrive: For a limited time, unleash Neon’s full strength and speed. FIRE to transform the energy into a lethal lightning beam with pinpoint accuracy. Each kill resets the duration.
What inspired Neon’s creation?
Neon’s motivation, according to character producer John Goscicki, was just “speed.”
“Everything in Neon seemed to revolve on the sensation of sprinting forward and moving quickly. Her designs were heavily influenced by athleisure wear, sprinting gear, and the body of runners. We also investigated the type of bioelectricity found deep within the water. This gave us a good starting point for some interesting shapes and motions in her lightning.”
Despite the fact that Neon’s whole style is focused on the ideals of all things quick and furious, Valorous Game Designer Ryan ‘rycou’ Cousart stated why Neon is so meaningful to him.
“I’ve been at Riot for a while, and up until now, there’s only been sporadic chatter of producing a Filipino character. I’m a Filipino designer, so the chance to help bring a Filipina agent to life in Valorant is a complete blessing.”
