Marvel Rivals is set to launch on 6 December 2024, and it’s shaping up to be NetEase’s answer to Overwatch. This free-to-play hero shooter will feature teams of six Marvel heroes and villains battling for points and territorial control.
Platforms and Crossplay
Marvel Rivals will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, with full crossplay support. However, Competitive mode will separate PC and console players. There won’t be versions for PS4, Xbox One, or Switch.
Gameplay
The game follows a 6v6 Hero Shooter format, with 25 Marvel characters available at launch, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Loki, Storm, and Star-Lord. Captain America and the Winter Soldier are the latest additions, with Cap acting as a tank and Winter Soldier using his robotic arm for grapples and slams.
Each character has unique abilities, and players can form strategic Team-Ups for extra buffs. So far, game modes involve pushing a payload or capturing objectives, with maps like Tokyo 2099 and Yggsgard. A ranked mode will also be available.
Beta Details
NetEase hasn’t confirmed another beta, but an open test may come soon to fine-tune the game before launch. The last closed beta ended in early August.
That’s the latest on Marvel Rivals—mark your calendars for December!
