Leaked crossover between Destiny 2 and Fortnite before Bungie event
It would appear like Bungie is preparing to implement Fortnite skins into Destiny 2. MidaRado, a leaker for Fortnite, hinted at a possible crossover with Destiny 2 over the weekend, and now Ginsor, a well-known Destiny dataminer, has verified the crossover with an image showcasing numerous classic Fortnite skins in Destiny 2.
The image, which was probably stolen from Bungie’s website, depicts a pair of Titan armour that looks suspiciously like the Black Knight outfit available with the Season 2 Fortnite Pass. The Hunter in Destiny looks a lot like the Omega skin in Fortnite, and the Warlock is shown with a Drift Mask similar to what can be found in the popular battle royale game.
These Fortnite skins have not yet been added to Destiny 2, and it is unclear how or when they will become available to gamers. Players will be able to apply Fortnite skins to any armour set in Destiny 2, much like they did in the original game. There have been rumours that Bungie is considering incorporating characters from the Destiny franchise into the environment of Fortnite.
To be fair, this is not the first time Bungie has patched in crossover material to Destiny 2. The Destiny 2 update that commemorated Bungie’s 30th anniversary introduced Halo-style weapons. In the looter shooter Destiny 2, the 30th Anniversary pack was released before the end of last year with a Magnum-like sidearm and a Battle Weapon-like pulse rifle.
This leak of a Fortnite crossover event occurs only days before Bungie unveils Lightfall, the next big update for the Destiny series. On Tuesday, August 23 at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET, Bungie will host a presentation for Destiny 2. This is the first big public presentation of Destiny 2 since Sony paid $3.7 billion for Bungie in February.
