In Indonesia, Steam, Epic Games, and Reddit have been banned
Most notably, the gaming platforms Steam and Epic Games as well as the social networking site Reddit have been restricted by the Indonesian government. Team Secret, an esports organisation, was the first to announce the blocking of these sites via a meme on its social media accounts.
Indonesian officials had previously stated that a new legislation governing internet platforms and services will be introduced soon. They must also have a PSE or Penyelenggara Sistem Elektronik Lingkup Privat permit in order to continue to operate in the Republic of the Philippines.
PayPal has also been blocked in Indonesia, according to Kominfo’d, a website that lists down the status of online services in the country. GitHub, GitLab, Microsoft Azure, Vulture, Ubisoft, EA, Nintendo, and MediaFire are also at risk of being blocked because they have not been registered under the law yet.
The subreddit r/Indonesia has been prohibited in Indonesia for a long time, and many of its members have been utilising a virtual private network (VPN) to access and participate in the community. Most public WiFi in Indonesia can still access Reddit, and you can even use mobile roaming when visiting Indonesia, which is obviously a little strange.
