The Cube Assassin is a new NPC in Fortnite who will wreak havoc on your face. You can try to defeat the Cube Assassin to win new gifts, including a new colour for your Paint-a-Toona avatar. To get to her, you’ll have to wade through a full Sideways encounter complete with foes.
The Cube Assassin is one of Fortnite season 8’s most difficult challenges, so we’ve put up a guide that will teach you where to find her and how to fight her. She’s also the key to unlocking Paint-a-Cube Toona’s Assassin style. Rather than finding colour bottles, you must defeat her to unlock her colour.
Where to find Cube Assassin in Fortnite
Sideways rifts spawn in random areas around the map, and the Cube Assassin can be found there. These aren’t the already-formed large Sideways spheres on the map.
Make sure you’re prepared for a significant fight before you go in. Make sure you have at least a couple of weapons and a lot of ammunition. A Sideways zone will form around you when you enter the rift.
You’ll be overrun by Sideways monsters right away, which you’ll recognise if you’ve visited any previous Sideways zone. Basic zombies, stronger zombies that launch projectiles, and zombies that erupt in a cloud of toxic gas when defeated are all included.
Keep an eye on the top of your screen for the timer bar. Killing enemies will fill up the bar, and when you reach a particular point on the bar, your time will be extended. The Sideways zone will vanish once the timer runs out, and you will have wasted your time.
The Cube Assassin should spawn in the centre of the region, most likely near the first rift. It’s not a 100 per cent guarantee, so don’t be surprised if she doesn’t show up and you have to try again somewhere else.
The Cube Assassin is equipped with a Sideways Gatling gun, a formidable rapid-fire weapon that increases in damage as you fire more rounds. She’ll also produce a shield wall in front of her that absorbs all damage on occasion. The fight will be much easier if you team up with buddies, so consider forming a squad.

When you beat the Cube Assassin, the Sideways zone should vanish, and she should transform into a transparent NPC with whom you can converse and buy cube monster parts.
