Toho has released a new trailer for its latest Godzilla sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero, allowing fans to get a much better look at the latest movie.

The new movie follows the characters two years after the award-winning 2023 film, and stars some of the original cast as well as director Takashi Yamazaki.

Godzilla’s next appearance in the trailer is even more powerful, and the human race is again about to be ravaged by a monster. The trailer reveals that Godzilla will be back with an even bigger kick, after briefly recovering from the destruction he wrought in the previous film.

When Will Godzilla Minus Zero Be Released?

The first preview screening of Godzilla Minus Zero is on November 3 in Japan.

The movie will be released in the U.S. on November 6th by GKIDS. It will be displayed at IMAX screens as well.

The movie will also be available in November in several foreign theaters, such as Spain.

What is shown in the New Trailer?

The new teaser gives a more ominous and larger threat than ever.

The images depict Godzilla roaring, and the destruction appears to not be confined to Japan this time. The trailer also shows a mysterious new disaster, threatening humanity once again.

There’s no turning back” is the tag line, signifying a more exciting sequel.

What is Godzilla minus zero about?

The official synopsis has Godzilla Minus Zero take place in 1949, two years after Godzilla Minus One.

The story picks up where the previous film left off, the Shikishima family desperately fighting one last battle. After a fragile peace, there’s a new threat as humanity finds hope again.

Ryunosuke Kamiki reappears as Koichi Shikishima, and Minami Hamabe is returning as Noriko Shikishima.

Returning Cast and New Characters

The sequel features several actors from Godzilla Minus One, such as:

  • Ryunosuke Kamiki
  • Minami Hamabe
  • Hidetaka Yoshioka
  • Yuki Yamada
  • Kuranosuke Sasaki
  • Sakura Ando
  • Miou Tanaka

The cast includes a man with deep psychological scars from the war – Kanji Murakami (Min Tanaka).

Takashi Yamazaki Returns

Director and writer Takashi Yamazaki is back in charge of the sequel, where he’s once again writing, directing and overseeing the visual effects.

Creating Godzilla Minus One earned him significant world acclaim for his emotional narrative and extensive visuals on a much smaller budget than Hollywood’s big money spinners.

Why Godzilla Minus Zero Has Huge Expectations

Godzilla Minus One was a worldwide hit upon release in 2023.

The movie made over $116 million globally, becoming the highest grossing Japanese-produced Godzilla production ever.

It also netted Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Costumes – the first awards for Godzilla films.

Toho is hoping to capitalize on that momentum in Godzilla Minus Zero and keep one of the longest-running franchises in cinema alive.

Godzilla was first created by the Toho company in 1954 and is one of the most recognizable characters in film history.
