Square Enix has detailed the upcoming 5.4 Patch for Final Fantasy 14 and has announced that the PS4 version of FF14 will be playable on PS5 with PS4 Pro display settings and quicker load times.
During the latest Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast for FF14, producer and director Naoki Yoshida, who is also a producer on Final Fantasy 16, revealed Patch 5.4, entitled “Futures Rewritten,” and stated it will be released in early December 2020.This patch will bring new Main Scenario Quests that will follow the grand conclusion of the Shadowbringers story and will add a new Raid dungeon – Eden’s Promise – which is the third chapter in the 8-player Eden raid series.

Furthermore, there will be new Chronicles of a New Era – The Sorrow of Werlyt updates that will introduce the Emerald Weapon into FF14. There will also be a new dungeon and Unreal Trial, and the Blue Mage will be getting a new update that increases its level cap and more.

The new Explorer Mode will allow players to traverse Shadowbringers dungeons without the danger of enemies in order to take screenshots. Mounts and minions can also be summoned to help create the perfect shot.

Prior to Patch 5.4, Patch 5.35 will be released on October 13 and will feature the latest chapter in the “Save the Queen” questline, with a story written by Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII’s Yasumi Matsuno, and new Bozjan Southern Front battle content will also be added.

Unfortunately, it was also announced the the European Fan Festival for FF14 was cancelled for February 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it will still go on as a digital event.
