Welcome to our ‘DOTA 2: How To Play A Support Hero?’ guide. In this guide we will discuss about the role of a support hero any in lineup and what makes a support hero equally important.

DOTA 2: How To Play A Support Hero?

DOTA 2: What is a support?

In the early game, the Position 4 Support, commonly known as the Ganker or Roamer, must predict where the opposition team will place pressure and plan a counter-initiation or discover weak points and produce kills there. A Roamer will frequently hit his own mid-lane and safe-lane when the opposition team isn’t expecting it.

DOTA 2: What really makes a support?

This function requires patience. With good map awareness and the ability to read your opponent’s moves, you can determine where his strongest pieces (heroes) will be and where you need to be to ensure that your lanes can sustain the strain or, better yet, that the enemy lanes crumble beneath yours.

DOTA 2: What should be your aim?

Create room for your cores, like the Offlaner. But your strategy must result in kills or other gains. You must defend your Mid and Carry if they are ganked.

Rune control is another must-do. You should inspect every power rune that spawns. Knowing it’s an Invisibility or Double Damage rune may avoid the loss of a teammate or two. If you pick it up, you can get a kill.

The Position 4 Support buys Observer Wards and Sentry Wards as needed by the Position 5 Support and the squad. As the game advances, you should aspire to become a semi-core and favour roaming above spending money on consumables.

DOTA 2: Most commonly played support heroes

Earth Spirit, Earth Shaker, Elder Titan, Bane, Pudge, Undying, and Wind Ranger are frequent Position 4 Support characters. You may choose from many others.
