Child caught in claw machine for attempting to steal teddy
A four-year-old girl’s vacation was one for the books after she got stuck in a claw machine while trying to get her sister a teddy bear.
The family from Darwin, including young Poppy, is currently enjoying a five-week caravanning holiday in the Whitsunday region of Queensland when they stopped in at a bar for lunch during their visit to Airlie Beach.
Poppy’s twin sister raced back to their parents to tell them that Poppy was in trouble when the girls were playing outside.
Melanie Pike said on 7News, “The next thing, my twin daughters ran inside and said ‘ah, Mum, Poppy’s stuck in a vending machine,”
The child can be seen weeping and beating on the glass while standing inside the machine with a stack of toys behind her. Poppy’s other sister cries when she sees her, and her other sister begs her to get some stuffed animals for when Poppy is feeling depressed. Poppy’s mother, who is recording the event, is inconsolable with laughter; she even posted on Facebook that she was crying from laughing so hard.
Ms. Pike can be heard stating, “You would not believe it,” as the staff frantically searches for a key to the machine. However, this is unnecessary because Poppy’s father has arrived and is giving her explicit instructions to escape by sitting down and leaning back.
“There you go. That’s why you don’t steal from vending machines,”
Ms. Pike told the Daily Mail that her daughter Poppy has been bragging to her friends about how “famous” she is after the viral success of a video she posted on Tuesday.
She went on, saying, “It’ll be a great funny story for her 18th birthday,”
