Bombirdier, a Paldean Flying and Dark-type Pokémon, has arrived in Pokémon GO raids. It debuted as a Tier 3 Raid Boss in late 2024, and its Shiny version is now available. Niantic’s event announcements noted that “Bombirdier is making its Pokémon GO debut.”
Its dual Flying/Dark typing gives it four primary weaknesses: Electric, Ice, Rock, and Fairy. Electric-, Ice-, Rock- and Fairy-type moves will therefore deal extra damage to Bombirdier.
As a Tier 3 Raid Boss, Bombirdier has a Raid Boss CP of 17,476. Trainers can expect to catch Bombirdier around CP 1,351–1,421 at Level 20 (up to 1,668–1,777 at Level 25 under Windy or Foggy weather). Well-equipped high-level players can defeat Bombirdier solo, but less-prepared teams may want to bring a friend.
For example, Pokémon GO Hub notes that Bombirdier “can be soloed by a well-prepared high level trainer, but those with less than ideal counters may want to bring a friend.”
The best counters to Bombirdier exploit its Rock, Electric, Ice or Fairy weaknesses. Strong Rock-type attackers are particularly effective. Mega Diancie with Rock Throw and Rock Slide is one of the fastest ways to take down Bombirdier.
Mega Tyranitar (Smack Down + Stone Edge) and Shadow Rhyperior (Smack Down + Rock Wrecker) are also highly recommended for their powerful Rock attacks. Electric-type choices like Shadow Raikou (Thunder Shock + Wild Charge) provide another quick counter, and Fairy-types such as Mega Gardevoir (Charm + Dazzling Gleam) are also effective.
Other strong choices include Ice-type attackers like White Kyurem or Black Kyurem, plus Pokémon like Shadow Rampardos and Shadow Electivire to further cover Bombirdier’s weaknesses.
In terms of movesets, guides advise using each counter’s strongest attacks. For reference, GamePress notes that Bombirdier’s own best offensive moveset is Wing Attack paired with Fly, although it is generally outclassed by other Flying-type attackers.
Trainers should focus on bringing Pokémon that resist Bombirdier’s types (Flying and Dark) and strike with its weak-type moves. With a team built around Rock, Electric, Ice, or Fairy attacks and the right movesets, Bombirdier’s Tier 3 raid can be completed efficiently.
