Zoom has announced human avatars to its meeting app
Zoom, a service for conducting video conferences, recently announced the addition of human avatars to its meeting app. The company added avatars to its collection of filters to make meetings more flexible and fun.
“With numerous personalization combinations, you can display the “virtual you” in a way that is original and fun! “Avatars mirror your movements and facial expressions, allowing you to present yourself dynamically without needing to be on video and providing a more engaging alternative to static profile pictures to inject more fun and energy into your meetings,” Zoom said in a blog post.
All Zoom users around the world can access avatars in the beta version right now. The company has stated that as beta testing continues, more options for customizing your human avatar, such as new facial features and hairdos, will become available. Meanwhile, Zoom has announced a variety of new features, including meeting templates and a chat experience with threaded messages and questions during meetings. Users can now set the appropriate parameters for their meetings with the click of a button by creating, saving, and selecting from pre-made meeting templates.
“Using meeting templates will help you feel comfortable knowing you’ve got the right type of meeting scheduled; focus on your content rather than spend time toggling settings,” said the blog post.
Plus, later this month, the company will release threaded messages and reactions, which will allow meeting participants to create message threads and consolidate emoji reactions in the in-meeting chat. This function will facilitate the organization of the chat messages and make it clear to which messages the users are responding. In addition, the Q&A function will make it easier for meeting organizers to stay on top of things by providing a central location to view and respond to questions.
