Yooka Laylee Switch

Can you believe it’s been a whole year since the launch of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair on Switch? Well, Team17 and Playtonic Games can, because they’ve offered up a lovely discount to celebrate.

Right now, and up until 11th October, Switch owners can buy the game from the eShop at a very welcome 60% off. That takes the £24.99 asking price right down to just £9.99, which is a very tempting deal indeed.

Playtonic is also celebrating in the form of a brand new comic strip via its social media channels, telling the story of a mysterious fire in the forest that disturbs Yooka and Laylee’s gaming time. It’s been produced by the super-talented Kev Bayliss, who worked as an artist on both Yooka-Laylee titles, and stars the likes of Trowzer the Snake, Rodney the Blamphibian, and other characters from the series.

We’re celebrating Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair turning a year old on Thursday!

As a special treat, we’re releasing the pages of a specially made comic by our very own @Kev_Bayliss!

If you haven’t played this game yet, what are you waiting for? We’ll leave a taste of our review for you below, just in case you need convincing.

Donkey Kong Country fans rejoice: this is the spiritual successor you’ve been waiting for. The worst thing you could say about it is that the overworld exploration may prove to be too involved for those who are in it purely for the runny-jumpy stuff, but those who are happy to mix platforming with top-down adventuring and don’t mind adapting to the constantly changing pace will find the best of both worlds here. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a fantastic sophomore effort that pays tribute to Rare’s past and establishes Playtonic as one of the UK’s most exciting studios.
