A part-time job is a wonderful way for students to have the extra money they want in their pockets. It is no secret that college life is very expensive and extra money is needed on top of what some students get given by their parents. They can use the money earned from part-time jobs to pay bills and enjoy themselves on a night out with classmates or co-workers. Worrying about money is common, however, a part-time job helps ease financial worries, allowing a student to focus more on getting good grades. Below is a look at some of the best part-time jobs for students.

    1. Looking after pets

This job is first on the list because it is one of the first jobs many students will get. The majority of homes no matter where one is studying these days will have a pet and if one is an animal lover, pet sitting is a great way to earn some extra money while studying. There are plenty of websites pet owners and sitters register on. All one has to do is set up an account on these websites, and they can earn as much as 10-25 dollars an hour just to look after someone else’s pet.

    1. Babysitting or nanny

Being a babysitter or a nanny is also a part-time job many foreign students choose to do because it is well paid, fun, and doesn’t disrupt their studies. To be a success in this job, one has to be good with kids, know how to do chores plus it is a great job to gain experience for any student pursuing a career in social care. One can also add their experience as a nanny or babysitter on their resume. This job is easy to apply for, however, one might have to go through a background check because no parent wants a drug user or someone with a criminal record around their kids.

    1. Pubs or bars

Bars or pubs get busy over the summer months and festive season. They are always looking to add new people to help ease the pressure, especially on the weekends making it the ideal part-time job for many students. Working in such an environment can be fun and gives students a chance to socialize with different people from different backgrounds. A great place to apply for such a job is in the city center or the campus bar.

    1. Restaurants

Another part-time job that is ideal for many students is restaurant work. Students love these jobs because they offer them flexible working hours and can earn extra money not just from their pay but from tips as well. In the UK and USA, for example, a student can take home as much as £50 or $69 in tips home on a busy day.

    1. Security jobs

Plenty of venues like bars, clubs, halls, festivals, and sporting events are always in need of security to ensure there’s order around their premises. A student can apply for security jobs if they enjoy assisting and directing people, however, one would need to apply for a license. This can be obtained by taking a series of tests and once one is certified, they can begin applying for jobs.

Plenty of universities in America do offer students crowd management training, which can help them land a security position. Office buildings also look for nighttime security, but a student needs to be careful with these types of jobs because too many night shifts can mess up one’s sleeping pattern. This can also affect a student’s academic performance, which is the last thing they need.

    1. Teaching, mentoring, or tutoring

Any student that is excelling in their academic studies can use their skills to tutor others who are struggling. Technology has made it easy for students to tutor others online using apps like Zoom and earn around 20 dollars an hour. They can not only teach students who are located in the country they are studying, but also other students from across the globe. There are so many freelance websites that allow students to earn some money off tutoring, teaching, or mentoring.

One more option is professional essay writing services like AdvancedWriters.com. If you are good at writing and have great research skills, it could be interesting for you to become a part of a professional team of writers who help students handle their writing assignments.

    1. Retailers

Working as a store assistant gives a student a sense of responsibility and awesome pay. In the United States of America, students working part-time earn as much as 20 dollars an hour. It is the perfect job for anyone who is studying because they will be able to earn a decent wage to pay their bills. Even working 10 hours a week is enough for a student to pay their bills, buy food and enjoy themselves after they’ve sat for their final exams.

    1. Freelance jobs

Sites like Upwork are a great place for a student to find writing jobs, all one has to do is create an account. Students who are aspiring journalists or English students will feel right at home on a site like Upwork, PeoplePerHour, and Fiver because they can work on their schedule, earning between 12-15 dollars an hour.

    1. Delivery driver

In the USA, students are making 200 dollars a week doing parcel and food deliveries. Places like Amazon, UberEats, Deliveroo, and more offer students flexible working hours to help them earn money while they study. While their zero-hours contract model is controversial and has garnered some negative publicity, students seem to enjoy being under their flexible umbrella, which doesn’t tie them down to set hours, and they can work as little or as much as they wish.

Before applying for a part-time job, a student needs to know if they are eligible to work, especially if they are an international student. Countries like the UK and USA have restrictions on the number of hours international students can work. Depending on the length of their course and visa type, some students are not allowed to work at all while some can work up to 20 hours a week and full time in the summer or when on holiday. If a student is allowed or able to work, they can apply for any of the jobs mentioned above to earn some extra money.
