“The Lord of the Rings: Gollum’ – Announced Release Date for Later This Year”
Since its announcement in 2019, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been a long time coming. It now has a firm release date, following a missed release window and a postponement. For September 1, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, one day before Prime Video’s debut of The Rings of Power. A Nintendo Switch version is also in the works, although no release date has been set.
Gollum is a stealth game based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s writings (with no voice actors from the film trilogy), and it takes place during the early chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring as he attempts to reclaim the One Ring (which is canon, according to GameSpot). Players can choose to side with Gollum or Sméagol in the stealth-based adventure, altering the destinies of some characters and the outcomes of several scenes.

For more than three years, the game has been in the press. It was first revealed in March 2019 and is set to be released in 2021. In January 2021, it was moved back to 2022.
This isn’t the only Lord of the Rings game under development. Electronic Arts revealed earlier this month that it is working on a free-to-play mobile role-playing game based on the brand.
