The title refers to Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, an Atlus JRPG published in 1997 for the Sega Saturn.
It was later converted to PlayStation in 1999 and 3DS in 2012 for the west.
Soul Hackers was the sequel to Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, published in 1995 for Sega Saturn and 2005 for PSP.
This new game celebrates the 25th anniversary of the original game by combining the classic Megami Tensei series with Soul Hackers genres. It’s a “hard-boiled JRPG.” It takes place in the second part of the twenty-first century, and the characters must once again save the planet.
As some may have observed, Shirow Miwa, the “Dogs” mangaka, designed the characters. Eiji Ishida directs and Mitsuru Hirata produces. Tokyo Mirage Session #FE is one of their prior works.
The clip shows a 25th Anniversary Edition for PS5 and PS4 including DLC costumes, tiny figures, books, and CDs.
The first-print bonus in Japan includes Persona 5 clothes and music.
The Steam version will be released on August 26. That tells me the western release date will be confirmed soon. This is a typical Japanese game pattern. However, this is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
