Ramayana: Part Two is now planned for Diwali 2028, according to producer Namit Malhotra. The sequel was originally slated for Diwali 2027. The revised plan gives the production another year, and the reports announcing the change give a festival window rather than an exact opening date. India Today · Hindustan Times
Why was Ramayana Part 2 delayed?
Malhotra said the extra time gives the filmmakers room to complete a production of this scale. The studio introduced the adaptation as a two-film project, and older materials still list 2027. The producer’s latest comments put the sequel in 2028. He also discussed the possibility of expanding the series. That leaves a third film as a possibility, with no release date announced in those remarks. Original Prime Focus Studios announcement · Times of India coverage of Malhotra’s remarks
What do we know about the story and cast?
Part One introduces Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana. Those roles establish the central characters of the adaptation. The studio’s launch material confirms the two-part plan and principal cast. A scene-by-scene Part Two synopsis or a complete sequel cast list would require a separate announcement. Is the 2027 sequel the same as the OTT release?
They are separate releases. Part Two is the second film in the series. The JioHotstar partnership is for a pay-per-view release of Part One in India after its cinema run. An announcement about when Part One can be watched at home therefore would not set a date for Part Two. Prime Focus Studios’ JioHotstar announcement
For the sequel, the next details to watch are a firm theatrical date, a trailer released specifically for Part Two, and market-by-market booking announcements.
