Welcome to our guide “PS5: What Are The Best Ways To Download PS4 Saves?”. If you’ve updated to PS5 but don’t want to lose your progress, then there are 2 methods to do it. So don’t worry if you launch a PS4 game with PS5 and it asks you to “New Game” instead of “Continue”. Mostly PS4 saves will instantly move to PS5, however some will take manual assistance. Also, unlike downloading saves on PS4, you’ll have to handle it all through the settings menu instead of the game menu. So, here are two ways to transfer PS4 saves to PS5.

PS5: What Are The Best Ways To Download PS4 Saves?

Using the Cloud

If you’ve been a PlayStation Plus user since the PS4 days, all of your PS4 saves must be safely stored in the cloud and available to download to your PS5 with no effort. Head Over to Settings ->Saved Data and Game/App Settings ->Saved Data (PS4) ->Cloud Storage ->Download to Console Storage. You’ll be shown a list of every the PS4 save you have placed in the cloud from here. You can simply tick the all titles you wish to move manually or use the “select all toggle” on the right-side. Then all you have to do is download them to the PS5.

Using USB

The other way to transfer PS4 saves onto PS5 is using USB. You may use this method if you don’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription, and it’s just as simple. Go to: Settings ->Application Saved Data Management ->Saved Data in System Storage ->Copy to USB Storage Device. This is where you’ll see a list of all your PS4 game saves. Using the choices button allows you to select several applications and transfer them across to PS5, or just select them all. Click copy to copy them all to your USB device. After that, connect the USB device to your PS5 & navigate to: Settings ->Saved Data and Game/App Settings ->Saved Data (PS4) ->USB Drive ->Copy to Console Storage. Simply select all, copy, and paste all PS4 saves to the PS5.
