Paper Mario is the next N64 game to be added to Nintendo Switch Online
As part of its “Expansion Pack” for Switch Online, Nintendo added games from the Sega Genesis and Nintendo 64 consoles to the service’s retro game library in October. Paper Mario has been announced as the first new addition to the lineup. Dec. 10th is the date when it will be available.
Mario characters and RPG-style turn-based combat made their console debut in Paper Mario, a 2000 release for the Nintendo 64. Paper Mario: The Origami King was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2017.
Expansion Pack launch was a bit of a controversy for Nintendo. In addition to the big Animal Crossing expansion, the $49.99 annual fee also includes NES and SNES games, as well as N64 emulation, which has come under scrutiny. Paper Mario is a popular game, but the addition of only one new release at a time is unlikely to have much of an impact on how people feel about the service as a whole..
For the N64, Nintendo has confirmed that Paper Mario is one of the games that will be released. Banjo-Kazooie, Pokémon Snap, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask are just a few other notable examples.
