Overwatch 2 Sojourn Gameplay Trailer Reveals a New Characters and Improved Arsenal

The character of Sorjourn has long been a part of the Overwatch universe, and she was formally revealed in November 2019 when Overwatch 2 was unveiled. However, very little was known about her, in part because Blizzard Entertainment had released so little about the sequel until now. Blizzard, on the other hand, produced a trailer for Sojourn and held a webcast discussing her origin and skills as part of a new transparency effort.

Railgun and cybernetics are shown in the trailer for the Canadian hero. She wields a railgun-assisted hitscan assault weapon (a la Soldier 76). The secondary fire, the railgun, uses the energy built up by the hitscan bullets. To slow and damage foes in her path, she can use a disruptor shot as one of her special powers. It works well with her railgun since it slows down her adversaries, allowing her to snipe them more easily. She has the ability to slide, which she may cancel and use for a high hop, thanks to her cyborg legs. It can be used to acquire the upper hand on the opposition or to retreat from them.

Her ultimate ability charges her railgun automatically and allows her to shoot through numerous opponents at once. It’s a “hitscan” version of Genji’s ultimate that can lead to massive, skill-based plays, which is what Blizzard claimed it intended to reward with this ability, according to the company.

Besides being the first new hero announced for Overwatch 2, the arrival of Sojourn marks a significant step forward for the game’s dearth of playable Black female characters, something that Blizzard has been criticised for ever since Overwatch launched. Artist Dion Rogers explained the significance of having her in the game and mentioned how they drew influence from previous roles Angela Bassett has portrayed as well as Regina King’s Angela Abar from HBO’s Watchmen series.

Because Blizzard did not want her presence to appear “random,” Rogers admitted that it took so long to build her. That’s why the team waited until the game’s forthcoming beta to get her done well and make sure she would make a significant impression.
