King Charles III and UK Prime Minister Liz Truss’s odd encounter has gone viral
An embarrassing exchange between King Charles III and the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, was caught on camera and posted to Twitter for all to see.
Chris Ship, royal editor for ITV News, posted video of the exchange on Friday (local time) with the caption: “King Charles holds the first of his weekly audiences with Prime Minister Liz Truss. It happened today at Buckingham Palace.”
As the Prime Minister approached His Majesty in the video, he did not appear too pleased to see her.
Truss addressed the monarch, “Lovely to see you again your majesty,”
As they welcomed each other, the King mumbled, “Back again, dear oh dear”
A weekly meeting between the Head of State and the Prime Minister has been established at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday evening (local time).
Twitter users were eager to make comments about the tense exchange.
A user said: “I think he’s expressing surprise that she is still the Prime Minister.”
