iOS 16: New Notification, Health Track and Other New Updates
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s iOS operating system could receive “significant enhancements” in its next major version. As Gurman explains in his most recent Power On newsletter, he expects iOS 16 to include a variety of new health-tracking capabilities, as well as an upgrade to notifications.
Those looking for an iOS overhaul, on the other hand, should know that it appears to be off the agenda. Although it hasn’t changed much since iOS 7 over a decade ago, Gurman doesn’t expect an end-to-end redesign of iOS’s interface. He points out that Apple’s multitasking UI may be the extent of any interface enhancements the company plans to implement.
However, Gurman didn’t go into specifics about watchOS 9’s activity and health tracking functions, which are expected to be upgraded in the upcoming operating system. When it comes to the next edition of macOS, Apple’s plans are even less apparent. The company’s desktop operating system was updated to seem more like iOS with the release of Big Sur. This was followed by Universal Control and SharePlay in the more current Monterey.
The new macOS, iOS 16, and watchOS 9 will be shown out during WWDC 2022. This year’s annual developer conference will get underway on June 6th. Gurman has said that new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models are in the works, so it’s plausible that Apple will unveil them at the event.
