Katrina, the surprisingly accurate fortune-teller on the island, has returned to the game, and visiting her shop is a lot of fun. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update was the icing on the cake. Almost everything that fans requested has been added to the game, and more! For example, unlike many real-life cats, cat villagers will now play with cat toys, but there is much more to the free update, such as the extensive enlargement of Harv’s Island.
Harv’s Island saw significant alterations as a result of the free Animal Crossing update. On Harv’s Island, you can open a variety of shops. While you’ll meet familiar faces like Leif and Redd, you’ll also be able to visit new merchants like Katrina, the infamous fortune-teller from prior games.
Katrina’s shop, like any other merchant stand, can be set up by donating 100,000 bells to the appropriate gyroid. You must donate to the gyroid that says it is seeking money “to fund a mysteriously accurate fortune-teller” if you want her business to open.
How does Katrina Work?
Once you’ve done this, she’ll be there the next day from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m., happy to deliver her psychic services. You have the option of having Katrina read your fortune or checking your friendship level with a certain villager.
If you choose friendship, she will tell you whether you and your chosen villager are close or not, and she will raise your friendship level in exchange for 10,000 bells. This is quite beneficial if you want to photograph a villager.
If you check your fortune, she’ll tell you whether you’ll have good or terrible luck for the remainder of the day, and this prediction will truly effect your in-game luck.
Fortune and Luck
Luck has an impact on the food you eat, your friendship, the quantity of objects that spawn, the amount of gold you gain from hitting rocks, and the number of bells you receive from balloons.
So, if you’re informed you’ll have excellent luck on a particular day, eating will give you more stamina, interacting with villagers will help you bond faster, you’ll find more spawnable things, you’ll earn more gold nuggets when you hit rocks, and balloons will give you more bells. If it’s a bad luck day, the exact reverse will occur.
Items for Purification
If you don’t want to carry the weight of the curse on your back for the rest of the day, you can pay Katrina 10,000 bells and she’ll lift it and send you a small prize in the mail the next day. To obtain all Purification Items from Katrina, you must first obtain Bad Luck from your fortune and then pay the 10,000 bell cost to cleanse yourself.
You can obtain four different Purification Items: the Gold Turtle, the Horseshoe Door Decoration, the Mini Dharma, and the Power Stone. If you want to get your hands on all of these products, you’ll have to pray for bad luck.
