Are you curious about the location of the new Death Stranding missions in the Director’s Cut? They’re hidden away and can only be accessed in a specific way that’s easy to miss, as well as requiring you to go through some hoops in order to get started.

It’s not immediately clear if you haven’t played in a while, and finding the new Death Stranding Director’s Cut tasks without assistance can be difficult. So let’s take care of it and guide you in locating all of the new items.

How to begin the new Death Stranding Director’s Cut missions

If you’re starting Death Stranding Director’s Cut from scratch, you’ll need to finish the first eight missions before you can access the new quests. Die-Hardman will appear with a notice as soon as you boot up if you’re beginning from an exported PS4 save, which is likely long past that point.

The new Death Stranding Director’s Cut missions, on the other hand, may only be accessed from the Eastern Region’s Distribution Center west of Capitol Knot City. It’s easy to overlook that detail and become perplexed as to what to do next without it. So, either via travel or by Fragile Jump, you’ll need to get there before you can begin.

You can pick up the objective ‘Collection: Cargo Discovered in the Ruined Factory’ after you arrive at the Distribution Center. You’ll see that a Maser gun is suggested, but don’t worry, you’ll get one once you take the position.

All that’s left is for you to get to the region marked on the map. To get there, travel out to the right after leaving the Distribution Center. You can use the map marker as a guide, but keep an eye out for the destroyed structure on top of the mountain as a landmark – that’s the Ruined Factory. It’s in close proximity to the Luden’s Fan bunker.

You’ll be able to combat some Mules and put the Maser to the test at the top. Head into the structure once they’ve all left. At this point, you won’t be able to enter the door you discover inside, so acquire the Ruined Factory data from the post box next to it.

This will essentially kick off the Director’s Cut’s new Death Stranding quests. Return to the Distribution Center with the data, and you’ll be given a new mission to return to the Ruined Factory, this time with the door open, and collect more data, and so on.

At this point, all you have to do is complete the objectives to unlock new missions and new content, such as music and BB pod personalization.
