Companies are increasingly becoming socially responsible. By adopting eco-friendly business practices, offering pro-bono work, giving financial donations, and setting aside time for community service, they are prioritizing corporate social responsibility (CSR), boosting their image.

According to a Cone Communications study, 87% of Americans will buy products from a company if it advocates for an issue they care about. Businesses that are socially responsible to their communities are more appealing to customers and employees. Here’s how companies can practice corporate social responsibility.

  1. Promote Environment Conservation

Green marketing (environmental marketing) has become more common among businesses. Doing something positive for the environment–such as recycling, using solar technology, and eliminating paper processes–shows a community that a business doesn’t put profit first.

According to a study by Global Web Index, 60% of internet users say they don’t mind paying more for eco-friendly products. So, if you want people in your community to be loyal to your business, look for ways to lessen your environmental impact. Ditch paper-based processes, use clean energy, or start recycling.

  1. Give Donations to Good Causes

Engage in philanthropic activities and give back to your community. Remember, without your community’s support, your business can’t survive. Identify a cause, a charitable foundation, or a non-profit that’s active in the community and donate some money to support its initiative.

  1. Invest in Community Events

If you want to connect with your community more, get involved in the local events and activities. Your company can sponsor some popular annual events in your town or city or provide cash prize rewards for competitive events.

For instance, if you own a dealership and want to reach more people applying for car title loans online, you can sponsor an automobile event in the community–like a car show. You can also pledge to donate funds to the underprivileged in your community experiencing health challenges.

  1. Volunteer Your Time

The community will like your company more if you set aside time to attend important events. Participate in local causes and ask your employees to volunteer their time and expertise. Apart from helping the community, volunteering boosts the morale of employees.

Businesses should identify social causes they can support and assign employees volunteer time off to work on them. This will help them build a social connection with the residents and improve the company’s visibility.

  1. Embrace Ethical Labor Practices

Employees want to work for companies that are socially responsible in their internal operations. Engage your employees and increase their loyalty by offering perks and providing a comfortable, inclusive workspace.

People want to work for companies that treat their employees fairly and ethically. Therefore, you should put your employees first if you want your business to succeed. You’ll attract and retain the best employees who will help your business grow.

Whether your business is a startup or well established, participating in socially responsible activities can have a significant impact–on it and the local community. Build your business around socially-conscious campaigns and make it more appealing to consumers and potential employees.
