Halo Infinite: How To Defeat Escharum
The latest Halo game features several unique antagonists, like Escharum. The Banished are led by a stoic, yet controversial Brute who will not accept failure or weakness. As Escharum nears death, his last hope is to face the renowned Spartan in Halo Infinite’s penultimate boss encounter.
Fighting Escharum needs Master Chief to move quickly and stealthily. Using the Grappleshot and Thrusters to move Master Chief around is effective, as does use the Threat Sensors to track the Brute. This tutorial will help you defeat the Banished leader and save Echo-216’s life.
Phase 1: Stock Up
Escharum’s struggle came at the worst possible time. Master Chief barely has time to gather his breath after surviving Jega ‘Rdomnai before facing the Banished chief. If you run out of ammo or grenades, swiftly reload. Escharum’s Scrap Cannon fires a lot of damage, so use Master Chief’s Grappleshot and Thrusters to evade.
The war with Escharum involves three key parts. Prevent Escharum’s attacks and deplete his health bar until the second phase begins. A couple of blast and shock coils can further injure the Brute.
Phase 2: Guard Echo-216
In the second phase, Escharum draws enormous electricity from nearby generators to enhance his shield. The shield is now stronger and any damage it takes is passed to Echo-216. So firing the shield repeatedly won’t work. Master Chief is able to destroy and damage Escharum using the Weapon’s batteries.
The cat-and-mouse method is used here. Distract Escharum from the exposed generator, then use Master Chief’s Grappholeshot or Thrusters to easily destroy it. When a power relay is destroyed, Escharum is exposed and might be directly damaged. To continue on to the final phase, repeat this process for each generator.
Phase 3: Drop The Hammer
Enraged, the Brute will convert from his Scrap Cannon to a powerful gravity hammer disguised as an ax called the Diminisher of Hope. Because Escharum lost his long-range efficacy for the axe, keeping a safe distance from the Brute is crucial.
Keep the Spartan out of Esrachum’s range and pick away at the Brute’s health with Master Chief’s Grappleshot and Thrusters. The last part of the boss fight is the easiest, so keep firing until the gigantic Brute falls and you’ve saved the day.
