Fortnite Chapter 3: How to surf on giant trees

With Fortnite Chapter 3, Epic Games added a new map, Battle Pass skins, and weapons. A new tree type was added, from which players can harvest valuable materials for crafting.

Probably not the most exciting of updates, but these humble trees have a secret: you can use them to quickly cross the water in the game.

A player can interact with a physical object by chopping down Chapter 3’s new enormous pine trees. These tree trunks don’t behave like other timber in Fortnite. If one of them falls into water, you can climb up on it and start hacking away at it to get the tasty materials.

As a bonus, you’ll be able to surf across lakes and rivers in no time. In one of their own games, HaYouGotRekTed demonstrated the phenomenon:

This only applies to the new trees in Chapter 3: the ones that are bigger and paler than the game’s usual arboreal offerings.
