Doing press for a major TV show comes with the territory—but for Bella Ramsey, there’s one question that’s getting old fast.
Promoting the second season of The Last of Us, Ramsey, who plays Ellie, says they keep hearing the same thing from interviewers—and they’re clearly done with it.
“The most common question I get asked is: ‘So, Bella, Ellie was 14 in season 1, she’s now 19 in season two—how did you prepare to play an older version of her?’” Ramsey told The Independent.
Their answer? Pretty straightforward.
“I’ve grown up! Ellie’s grown up! There’s nothing to tell! I’ve got nothing to say to you!” they joked. “No offense to everyone asking that question, but I’m a little bit sick of it.”
Fair enough—some questions just don’t have deep, reflective answers. And since both actor and character have naturally aged, there isn’t much mystery there.
Ramsey first won hearts as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, and now leads The Last of Us alongside Pedro Pascal’s Joel. Season 2 jumps ahead five years, with Joel and Ellie settled in a community—until events force them back into danger.
Unlike the first season’s linear road trip structure, season 2 features two intersecting storylines: Joel and Ellie on one side, and Abby, a vengeance-driven soldier, on the other. It all builds toward a high-stakes confrontation, expanding the world and characters in new ways.
